A garden of many rooms

A magnificent Golden Elm and discreet area of lawn to the west of the house provide a cool oasis during summer. The veggie garden is protected by a semicircular brick wall, providing a formal courtyard feel, and the pool is similarly protected from southerly winds by a rectangular extension of the wall. Sweeping around the house is an extensive gravel garden that takes in mature trees and a range of plantings. Two large mulched garden beds make use of the recycled household wastewater. Beyond this the garden extends to naturalised wetlands and olive grove with beautiful views to the surrounding countryside.

Hardy plant selection

Plants that cope with both frosts and long hot summers, ideally with limited watering, are featured in the garden.
Numerous different agaves thrive in the gravel planting, along with yuccas, grasses, herbs and perennials.
Grass trees grown from tube stock are now mature and in flower.

Shared with the wildlife

From plantings around the dam to revegetation as part of the Regent Honeyeater Project, the local wildlife is encouraged as much as possible.
