Dennarque, A Mount Wilson Story, was published in 2019. The book captures the four seasons with stunning photographs through the year. As you enter the gates of the Estate, the book invites readers in to explore the sprawling cool climate garden, which is rarely open to the public. With the foreword by Jamie Durie, the book takes you through short narratives on each season. The book also tells the important story of the historical background of the heritage property and gardens.
Spring is when the garden comes alive. The abundance of flowers bursting with colours and scent saturate the garden. It is an amazing time in the garden as every day you see a different plant come to life.
Summer is filled with all different shades and textures of green. Every season has its beauty, but we all look forward to the warmer months of summer. Throughout summer a series of different birds migrate through the gardens, filling the mornings with beautiful birdsongs.
Autumn colours are the highlight in Mt Wilson. The gardens put on a spectacular display of oranges and reds on the hundreds of different varities of maple trees. Mt Wilson attracts a lot of visitors during Autumn for the colours. Accommodation at Dennarque is booked well in advance. Autumn is also a preferred season for many weddings at Dennarque.
Mount Wilson is one of those places which has distinct four seasons, where winter really is winter. The temperature can drop below zero on most mornings. Mt Wilson also gets a few snowfalls during winter. The days are crisp and dry against the winter sunshine with clear blue skies.
