Hartley Valley Garden Festival and Plant Fair

Five fabulous & diverse gardens offering everything from historic & rustic buildings to Japanese influences, cottage gardens filled with a riot of colour, rare plants and gorgeous water features, huge perennial borders, loads of garden ideas and magnificent escarpment and mountain views - all within an easy drive from Sydney. Plants (including rare varieties), original artwork, pottery and morning tea available in most of the gardens but it is advisable to bring a picnic. No booking required.

Entry Fee: $15

Adults $15 per person, per garden. (Hartvale $12 and Harp Of Erin Free Of Charge). Children under 16 free.
Toilets located at Old Hartley village. There are limited toilet facilities at the gardens.
Picnics are welcome - in fact encouraged! There are burgers etc at Hartley Fresh Cafe or Woodfired pizzas at Alchemy Pizza in Hartley (Sunday only). No Booking required. Just pay at each gate. For more info, call Jennifer from Hartvale on 0404531555.

Highfield Gardens

'HIGHFIELDS' - 111 John Grant Road Little Hartley

Highfield Gardens is the fabulous garden created by horticulturalist and rare plant collector David Kennedy of 'Clover Hill' garden in Katoomba.
'Highfields,' with it's stunning escarpment views has captured the attention of the horticultural world being included in the book by Claire Takacs 'Australian Dreamscapes' and featuring on the front cover.
The gardens were also featured on Better Homes and Gardens in March 2020.
A large 6 acre garden with Rock Walls, Water Features and many garden areas with colour themed garden borders, perennial walks, water features, a Birch Grove, rock garden and much more.
There are ideas for all garden owners with big or small gardens and horticulturalist David Kennedy is always on hand for advice and help.

Hartvale Gardens

'HARTVALE GARDENS - 49 Sunray Ave, Little Hartley

Hartvale is situated on five gently undulating acres at the base of Mt York with stunning escarpment, mountain and valley views. Predominantly a cottage garden filled with Lavender, Penstemon, Poppies, Salvias and Dahlias, the grounds also feature a Potager garden, kitchen garden, cute potting shed, walled garden with water feature and an open art studio. Designed by a builder and an artist, the gardens are all about vivid splashes of colour, texture, movement and joy with new ideas for the home gardener around every corner!
Featured on Better Homes and Gardens in April 2021 and December 31st 2021.

Gory'u Japanese Gardens and Maple Springs Nursery

'GORY'U JAPANESE GARDENS- 85 Baaners Lane, Little Hartley

A true Japanese garden experience and as seen on Better Homes and Gardens 2020, Gory'u Japanese Gardens is a showcase of Japanese Maples and Conifers. There are some 28 types of Japanese Lanterns, 12 Basins, 13 ornamental bridges, a waterfall, 4 Suikinkutsu (water harp), Shishi-Odoshi (dear/kangaroo scarer), moon viewing platforms, extensive lake, stream and exceptional panoramic views towards Sugar Loaf Mountain, Mt York and Hassans Walls.

Historic Harp Of Erin

'HARP OF ERIN - Great Western Highway Little Hartley

The Harp Of Erin was constructed in 1832 by Michael Flannagan, originally as an Inn to take advantage of the newly convict built Victoria Pass and Great Western Road to Bathurst. Over time it developed into the general store and post office until 1976 when the PMG rationalised its assets and it closed. The current owners Scott and Grace are slowly restoring the buildings and cottage gardens. The gardens are filled with dahlias, cosmos, iris, foxgloves and sculptures made by Scott Lenord which feature in many gardens around the Blue Mountains and Mount Wilson.

Wild Meadows Garden

WILD MEADOWS GARDEN: - 243A Cox's River Road Little Hartley

Wild Meadows is a four seasons garden nestled in the hills of the Hartley Valley. Designed by plantsman and horticulturalist Stephen Vella, the garden displays perennial borders bursting with seasonal colour, meadow gardens with beautiful grasses and prairie flowers and woodland gardens with rare and unusual trees. For Spring there is plenty of tree blossom including that of crab apple and cherry accompanied by iris, daffodils and tulips.
