Merribee's garden spans seven acres of sensory splendour. Since purchasing the property in 2000, it's been an evolving masterpiece for Lucy and Richard Marshall. Plant life flourishes in this coastal land, and with the assistance of horticulturist James Thompson, it has been fashioned into a garden rich with diverse plantings of trees, shrubs and herbaceous plants. The gardens are open Wednesdays, or by appointment for private tour groups.

Merribee's kaleidoscope of a garden features 2km of pathways that weave through some of the most diverse plantings of trees, shrubs and plants in Australia.
The botanical rooms of this 19th-century estate ...
Wander through the formal garden rooms, including the Rose Garden, the hedged Potager Garden, the walled Snow Pear Garden, the Cottage Garden, Crepe Myrtle Walk, the Herb Garden, the Lavender Paddock, the Bunya Bunya Copse and finish up at the adjoining hedging, topiary and rose nursery.
The grounds display an embarrassment of earthly riches - the fragrances waft from every nook and cranny, the birdlife is as vibrant as the garden's rainbow palette and the edible fruits range from mango, guava and apple to pomegranate, passionfruit and avocados. The estate is also home to beehives that yield the sweetest Merribee honey.
