We acquired the property in March 2000 and the garden had become a little over grown but we are having a lot of fun bringing it back to its former glory hopefully in keeping with th ...

Spring garden

Towering Rhododendrons are a feature of the garden in spring . Many over 10 metres high and just as wide. The oldest being at least 100 yrs old. The perennial border is just coming back to life after its long winter sleep, filled with old fashioned favourites such as Lupins,Aquilegias,Euphorbias and Delphiniums.

The perennial border

Hillandale has a 120m long herbaceous perennial border featuring over two hundred species of rare and unusual plants. The border reaches its peak from late February to the end of March.

Bring a picnic

Stroll around the magnificent grounds then relax by the water and enjoy a picnic.

Visitor Comments

Worked a visit to this gem of a garden into a trip to Bathurst. Perennial border (even in the rain) was lovely and equalled what I've seen overseas... and I've never seen such a lovely lot of dahlias. The setting is just lovely. Watch for next time it's open. Margaret March 2016
Margaret - April 2017
Well worth the trip. The perennial border is said to peak in March but was just delightful on 31 December. Visit in summer for lilies, hydrangeas, flowering dogwood, a magnificent smoke bush and much more...
Natasha - January 2017
I loved this pretty garden! Set in serene location with sweeping garden beds & distant views are enough until you get to one of the best herbaceous borders you'll ever see with magnify own canna's, dahlias & much more. I also bought some great quality plants at a reasonable price. The owner was very knowledgable on matters of horticulture. I highly recommend this beautiful garden...
Dean - February 2016
A 3 hour drive from Sydney and this garden is well worth it. An oasis in the countryside. Sarah's border equaled many I have seen in England.
Sharyn - February 2016
