'Tremearne'

'Tremearne' is a 5 acre home garden first planted in the 1830s when the area was settled by Cornish farmers. The garden hosts a huge English elm and a row of poplars which were planted over 150 years ago. Additional plantings were made by various owners in the 1950s, 1980s and 2005. The garden has several water features, a Monet bridge, gazebos and a Trompe l'oeil gate plus well established European exotics. Since taking over the the garden recently, the new owners continue to make alterations with the emphasis on creating spaces for weddings and events.  More Info »

'Millthorpe Garden Nursery

The garden at Millthorpe Garden Nursery covers about one acre and was initially planted about 25 years ago and was inspired by the well known landscape designer in the early 1900's, Paul Sorenson. Some for the oldest trees in the garden include Himalayan cedars (deodars), red oaks, Japanese maples, tortured willows and silver birch. Two of the most prominent feature tress are a variegated silver elm and a Wollemi pine.
Spring colour is abundant from many hundreds of bulbs, camellias, forsythia, flowering cherries, crab apples and forest pansy trees.
Summer colour bursts from roses, rosemary hedge, salvias and many perennials in a range of border gardens.
During Covid lockdown times, a Boules court was developed. You might like to have a game during your visit!  More Info »

'Rosebank'

The Bank of NSW where it currently stands was completed in 1902 - on a part of what had been purchased as a larger block. Most of what is now the garden was added around 1980, and it has grown under various ownership since then. Today, there are unique spaces to delight and enjoy, encircled with feature trees, ornamental shrubs, and an array of annuals and bulbs that ensure flowers can be found througout most of the year. Rosebank stands out with its unforgettable array of roses that frame the building, climb the fences and adorn walkways. Emerse yourself in the garden, or enjoy it from the wrap around verandahs the sit above the garden. Accompanying the Garden Ramble this year will be an art exhibition combining the wonder of nature with photography and painting.  More Info »

'Treelands'

Current owners bought 'Treelands' in 2000, when there was no garden except for a few small trees. Now the 'new' trees are big and beautiful and are being underplanted with traditional plants. Since moving in permanently in 2005 the garden has expanded to the west with the emphasis on rare and different species of trees, with the ambition being to have at least 100 different species with suitable underplanting. The garden rooms that have been created are full of surprise and intrigue.  More Info »

Wander the streets of Millthorpe Heritage Village

Millthorpe Village is heritage listed, plus there is a vibrant garden culture created by it's residents. Each year the Garden Ramble committee calls for volunteers and each year there are over 100 volunteers involved to present visitors with a well organised, welcoming to all event.
Each year, the Ramble committee also calls for property owners to open their garden to the public. An extraordinary fact is that this small village has had 115 different gardens opening their gates over the years.
We look forward to welcoming visitors to our 19th annual Ramble.  More Info »

Visitor Comments

While still in lockdown, it was wonderful to watch the 2021 Millthorpe Garden Ramble. The garden owners were very informative and the gardens were very well presented. Having only a suburban garden, it was great seeing the mature trees putting on their beautiful autumnal colours. This type of garden visit is a great pleasure particularly for people with mobility issues and especially now with the COVID-19 travel restrictions. Congratulations and well done all!
