Live Music

There are 5 gardens open in Burra, and most feature examples of stone work using local stone for walls, garden beds and path edging. All the gardens look good when not in flower because of this feature, many also have century old pepper trees offering cool shade in our long hot summers. Take your time to wander around Burra streets, most gardens are within walking distance, and there are many pretty gardens you will pass that are not open. Enjoy some live Folk/swing/sprightly fiddling/gypsy music by TAMARISQUE at 10 Thames St BURRA on Saturday &Sunday (WEATHER PERMITTING) .Dont miss Roger Bohems vintage cars and Buggies on display in his garden. Burra creek runs through the town, over a period of many years enthusiastic volunteers have created a peaceful place perfect for a picnic.

A Hanson garden between Burra and Farrell Flat

A beautiful house surrounded by sweeping lawns, shaded in summer with beds filled with lush hardy plantings. This is a place where you can imagine someone hosting a lavish afternoon tea on the lawns, come and see for yourself. Then head to Farrell Flat and see the beautiful gardens there and have something to eat at Gally's Meeting House and enjoy their garden.

Mt Bryan

Coming in from the north or west, maybe going home that way. Take the time to stop in Hallett and buy a ticket on your way in.

On Petherton Rd, is Carol and Barrie Bailey's, 8ks south of Hallett. A long time gardener, with a family gardening background, Barrie was at first confounded by conditions here. The plants he knew from England and the Adelaide Hills would not survive the extreme conditions, but the wind does the most damage. Barrie now grows french lavender, Australian dryland natives, and drought tolerant succulents. Come and see for yourself how he's making a lush garden using the right plants. His watering regime is monthly, which considering our hot summers, is a triumph.
Next is Jodie Quinn's garden on M Bryan East Rd, just before Mt Bryan. This is a lovely country family garden cared for by Jodie and her children. With a nature walk, spring flowering trees and lavender hedges, your sue to enjoy your time there. Morning tea and yummy cup cakes will be available.
